Many years ago I bought a framed marriage certificate from an antique shop somewhere in Washington County, PA. It says:
'THIS IS TO CERTIFY
That Mr. David Hughes of Mt. Washington in the State of Pennsylvania and Miss Maggie L. Black of Pittsburgh in the State of Pennsylvania were by me joined together in HOLY MATRIMONY on the fifth day of January in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Seventy One. E. K. Squier, Pastor of First C. P. Church, Pittsburgh, Penna. In Presence of Mr. William Black and Mrs. Elisabeth Black.'
Does anyone have information about this couple? In my lineage I have Sarah Jane Black (b.1846 in Guernsey County) wife of David Downing, but I have not been able to make a connection between Sarah Black and Maggie Black. Note that the First C. P. Church was First Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
