THIS IS A REAL LONGSHOT -

SPROWLE - WE HAVE A REFERENCE TO A - SPROUL -
IN AN 1895 DOCUMENT - THAT WE HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE
TO TRACK DOWN - FOR YEARS & YEARS -

''I met a granddaughter of Kate's in Ft. Scott who told me of the Vantrumps, showed me a pamphlet with some speeches this Van. had made in Congress. This grand-daughter named Sproul lives with her son's family being a widow, son a widower too.''

FT. SCOTT - IS BOURBON COUNTY, KANSAS
TIMEFRAME IS - ABOUT 1880-1890.

THIS GUY & THE ANSHUTZ FAMILY -
ALL CAME FROM OHIO, ORIGINALLY.

ANY ''BELLS'' - AT ALL ?

Carol Bell - Mar 10,2007   Viewers  | Reply
Craig, I'm a Bell who grew up in Ohio County, living in Atlanta now. Some of my family members are still in Wheeling. What Bell family are you investigating? My heritage is Scots-Irish and my ancestor, George Bell was born 1 Jun 1730 in County Down, Ulster. Most of my Bells (but not George) are buried in West Alexander Cemetery, West Alexander, Pennsylvania.

Thanks, Carol

When I was young I knew an elderly Chinese gentleman who had emigrated to Korea and was converted to Christianity there. He eventually came to the U.S. and, in the process of becoming a citizen, was given the opportunity to change his name. He decided to name himself in honor of his three countries, with each part of his name representing China, Korea, and the U.S. So he became Ding Dong Bell.

The Sprowle family that I am looking for came from Virginia and lived in Ohio most of their lives. I do not have a Bell in family sorry.
Thanks,
Carol West

    Craig,
Do you know anything about the Anschutz or the Fankhouser families? My 2nd gr-grandmother's name was Christina Anschutz, born in Monroe County, OH and the daughter of Phillip A & Elizabeth Fankhouser Anschutz.

Thanks,
Joan McClelland

    HI JOAN
YES - I DO KNOW ABOUT PHILIP ANSHUTZ -
HE IS NOT MY DIRECT-LINE -
BUT HE & HIS TWO BROTHERS WERE -
THIRD COUSINS BACK IN GERMANY.
THEY CAME OVER MUCH LATER THAN
MY ANSHUTZ'S DID.

MY ANSHUTZ ARE ALL OVER BOTH SIDES
OF THE OHIO RIVER IN THIS AREA -
& I RAN INTO PHILIP & HIS BROTHERS OFTEN.

ON THE BELMONT SITE AT ONE TIME
THERE WERE INQUIRIES ABOUT ONE OF PHILIP'S
SONS - WHO MARRIED A HENDERSHOT.
I PUT UP EVERYTHING I KNEW ABOUT PHILIP.

YOU MIGHT TRY A SEARCH THERE ?

IF YOU NEED MORE - LET ME KNOW.-
& I CAN DIG IN MY RECORDS SOME MORE.

    Hi Craig,
Thank you so much for the information. I will do a search in Belmont County. I just recently came across the above information as my parents both died in the 70's thus making it hard to find out any information about the family.
